Shooting snow is not a easy as it looks, well, you can shoot, but it doens’t mean it will look right.
In this days is very easy to get the right exposure with so advanced metering modes, however sometimes you just want to ignore for creative purposes or to shoot sand and snow.I’ll explain.
When metering to shoot a photo with snow or sand, the metter gives you the reading, you adjust the settings in your camera and then you shoot, well it looks great on the back of the camera, but when you get to your computer you look at the photos and the white snow it’s not pure white.
So in those circunstances I advise to over expose on the camera by just about 1 stop to give you the white snow.
But however you just saw the photos on your computer and you want an easy fix.
That is where I come along , and make a tutorial to show you how to get the snow to look right and also to sharp the photo.
PS:The snow on the photo I was using for this tutorial was perfect, however I’ve adjusted in Camera Raw to give that hint of blue so I could create the tutorial.(Just in case you start saying that I can’t shoot snow.
I hope you like it.
See you next time
